I am a momma of 3; Kaitlyn, Austin, and Elena! I grew up in Belle Plaine, MN. Lived in Virginia Beach, VA where both older kids were born and where I graduated nursing school! I started working as a registered nurse in 2010 and have been in the business of DME, home care, case management, orthopedics, medical / surgical, and currently the ICU. We moved to Big Lake in 2013!
Coffee in the morning and an occasional glass or red wine at night! Come join me in a seat on my deck for some good conversation! Or a hike or kayak trip down the river!
We love and participate in swimming, football, and dance / gymnastics! I’m a knitter / crocheter / crafter and loooove to travel and dabble in many things, especially a good adventure I’ve never done before! You can often find us in the water on our kayaks or camping somewhere in our tent!
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Trails is a for sure hit with our family! Amazing variety and always wonderful service! We can always count on other friendly faces being there as well!
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
We moved to Big Lake the summer of 2013! We have had 9 amazing years here!
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
We have a deep love for some of our favorite teachers and coaches throughout our years in the community! I could never nail it down to one, but as a group, these teachers pour palpable love into our kids!
Q: Do you have any pets? If so, what are they and what are their names?
Yes! Currently we have a dog named Molly who is 2.5 years old. She joined us in the winter of 2020; rescued from Texas! Yes, she has a winter coat!
Q: What advice would you give to people living in Big Lake?
Get involved! Whether it’s coaching your kids first year of soccer and knowing nothing about it *me*, or signing up for some community classes or booster clubs, or joining a social walk-around-the-lake group, just do it! Meet the people and feel the love!
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I am working on a trip to Europe hopefully within my next 5 years! I’d also love a long hike on the Superior Trail or maybe one day even the Pacific Crest Trail! I knocked deep sea fishing in South Carolina off last summer – I’d love to catch a Halibut in Alaska!
Q: What is your favorite current or former business in our community?
We have absolutely loved “Groom My Friend” for Molly’s puppy pampering needs! We enjoy Caribou! Sooooo many amazing places in this town – check them ALL out!
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Everyone is so willing to help their neighbor! Whether it’s a broken mower or gathering items for a family in need – you can count on our community for just about anything!
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Big kids will be in their mid 20s and little one will be in her early teens! Hopefully she will be my travel partner and we will be knocking some adventures off our bucket list! Hopefully a quaint little house in the country somewhere! Where this road goes, no one can know!
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I was a football manager my senior year in high school, lettered even! I absolutely LOVE knitting and crocheting – whether it’s hats for the local cancer center or stuffed animals and blankets for your new baby bundle! Most of my knitting and crocheting is inspiration only – gifts!
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My children are always guiding me in ways to improve if I’m attentive and pay attention to what they aren’t saying! Every chance I get to improve, it’s for them!
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of Big Lake?
Small-town, Amazing Community, SPUDFEST!
