Big Lake is a rapidly growing community located along the banks of Big and Mitchell lakes. Big Lake is also home to Eagle Lake, Thompson Lake, Lake Ann, and Birch Lake. There is always plenty of fishing, ice fishing, boating and swimming with this many lakes in one community.

Big Lake is known locally for its annual summer festival “Spud Fest,” which celebrates all things potato-related. The festival is also known for its large softball tournament, attracting teams from all over the state. Also enjoy Music in the Park every week at the lake and the weekly Farmer’s Market.
The city’s population is estimated to be 11,456 and Big Lake Township’s to be 7,785, totaling 18,959. Since 2000, there have been more than 1,127 single family homes built in the city.
