I am married with two children, ages 10 and 13. I am one of the Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) teachers at Big Lake High School. I have been teaching in Big Lake for 22 years. I currently teach Culinary 1 & 2, Baking & Pastry 1 & 2, World Foods and Healthy Eating which includes managing our school garden. In addition, I am also the advisor for EPIC, Encouraging Positive Influences & Choices, student group which helps to promote making healthy choices within our community.

 

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Trails! They have the best Potato Skins around.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
In the fall, I will be starting my 23rd year of teaching in Big Lake.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Definitely my students! They never cease to amaze me on a daily basis.

Q: Do you have any pets? If so, what are they and what are their names?
I have a St. Bernard named Luna.

Q: What advice would you give to people living in Big Lake?
Positive thinking can lead to positive changes.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
To take a food tour around Europe!

Q: What is your favorite current or former business in our community?
Coborn’s and MN Wholesalers.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
We have such amazing teachers in our schools that work so hard inside and outside of our classrooms to provide the best learning opportunities for our youth.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I plan to still be teaching here at BLHS!

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I grew up in Wisconsin and I am a certified scuba diver.

My students!
