My family and I live outside of Big Lake. My husband, Jake, is a volunteer fire fighter with the Elk River Fire Department and we have a 1 year old son. I’m due with our second son at the end of June. We enjoy watching the Minnesota Wild, hunting, fishing, and staying active with our son.
In December of 2019 I graduated from SCSU with my special education degree. I started my career in January of 2020 at the Big Lake Middle School as the setting III EBD Teacher. This allows me to work with a small group of students who need extra support regulating their emotions and behaviors. I absolutely love my job, the students I work with, and their families.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
My family loves Pizza Factory, and Cambo Flare. We also like finding Mac’s Mini’s food truck whenever she is in town.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have lived in the community since 2019 and started working at the Big Lake Middle School in 2020.
Q: Do you have any pets? If so, what are they and what are their names?
We have two dogs, Bailee and Toby, and then a cat named Maggie.
Q: What advice would you give to people living in Big Lake?
Enjoy the small town feeling Big Lake has to offer. Take the time to explore nature and what the surrounding areas have to offer.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I would like to travel to Germany.
Q: What is your favorite current or former business in our community?
My favorite business is P.S. I Love You Occasionally.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
My favorite thing about the community would be the farmers market and I love the lake.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
In 5 to 10 years I would like to see myself still working in special education, watching my kids play sports/other activities, and supporting my husband during his service with the Elk River Fire Department.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
Something interesting that most people don’t know about me is I’ve never been to an ocean.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My children, husband, and students inspire me to do better.
