My name is Kristin, I was born and raised in Green Bay -Yes… I still cheer for the Pack living in the land of purple. I have lived in Big Lake for 18 years. I have worked at Big Lake Schools for nearly 17 years in one capacity or another. I started working in the kitchen and have worked in all of the schools in the district in many different positions. In addition, I have worked in most of the Elk River Schools. I have been married for 28 years to my hubby Jim… in addition to that we were together for 10 years before we tied the knot. We have two adult children they are grown and flown, Collin is enlisted in the Navy and Emily is a first grade teacher at the Colorado Military Academy in Colorado Springs. We currently have 2 teenage cats, Monster and Munchkin. I enjoy my gardens of flowers and vegetables. I do quite a lot of canning and cooking/baking. I make a pico that is darn good. I am the youngest of 5 children. The remainder of my family still lives in Green Bay.

 

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
No 1 China and Ember Coffee is a new love

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
Lived here since 2004. We built our house and love it very much. We have quite the abundance of wildlife, we have deer, fox, turkeys, coyotes, bears and wolf to name a few.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
The little people that I work with every day, they teach me something every day. The smiles and hugs are amazing bucket fillers.

Q: Do you have any pets? If so, what are they and what are their names?
Monster and Munchkin orange kitties. At one time we had 2 turtles, 1 hamster and a cat named Rosie that was about 120 in human years.

Q: What advice would you give to people living in Big Lake?
Visit the Sherburne county refuge, enjoy the nature that is so close to you.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Travel more, I would love to go to Italy.

Q: What is your favorite current or former business in our community?
Cocoa Maas is amazing

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Seeing the kids that I have worked with, who recognize me out in public. No- we don’t live at the school.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Hopefully traveling the USA with my hubby

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I waterskied semi pro with a club in Green Bay for many years.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My Children- they are my everything
