I grew up in Anoka. Once we decided to purchase a house we looked at Big Lake because of its “small town” feel. I have 3 kids – Jordan, Lauren and Landon, and a wonderful wife, Cassie. I have been actively involved in youth sports, as a coach and board member. Currently, I volunteer as one of the Big Lake football coaches.  I am also a firefighter with the Big Lake Fire Department.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
It really all depends on what the family is wanting to eat. If we are thinking pizza, Pizza Factory. If we are thinking burgers, it’s McPetes or 3rd Rail.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have lived in Big Lake for almost 12 years.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Since moving here I have met so many people and families. I wouldn’t be able to pick just one.

Q: Do you have any pets? If so, what are they and what are their names?
I have 2 dogs. They a “Springadors”. Their names are Jasmin “Jaz” and Abby. I told my wife to only come home with one dog…she came home with both.

Q: What advice would you give to people living in Big Lake?
Go out and enjoy everything Big Lake has to offer.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Would love to go hog hunting in Texas or salmon fishing in Alaska

Q: What is your favorite current or former business in our community?
I have a lot of favorite businesses from this community so it’s hard to say which one is my favorite. Each business has its own special niche.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Larger population but with a small town feel.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Probably still coaching football in Big Lake. I love the sport, and seeing the change in the players from the first day of practice to our last game of the season is worth every minute put into the season.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I keep trying to see the northern lights but haven’t been able to.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My family is my inspiration for pretty much everything. When it comes to football, the players are my inspiration. Especially the team I am currently coaching. Some of these kids I have coached since they where in 2nd grade. But whether I have been their coach for years or this is their first time playing football, they are all treated the same, like family.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of Big Lake?
Small town feel, We are not up north, (haha) and Spudfest
