My name is Heather Anderson. I grew up in Ham Lake, MN. I married my high school sweetheart ❤ in 2003. Ray and I have been married for 20 years this upcoming May. We moved our family to Big lake and built a house when I was pregnant with my 2nd son in August 2005. We have three children, Travis – a senior this year at Big Lake High School, Tyler – a Junior and Alexis – 6th grade. I am always up for an adventure and enjoy almost anything outdoors. Our kids keep us busy with all their sports from baseball and softball to football, along with many outdoor activities, 4-wheeling, fishing, snowmobiling and skiing/snowboarding. My family is my world and I love them all! I am currently, and have been, an accountant for 20 years and am currently working for a family owned business for the last 6 years. I love my job and working with numbers and reporting has always been fulfilling for me. I enjoy volunteering for any of my kids sports and activities and am actively involved with the football program serving as the Quarterback Club Treasurer. I am extremely humbled and honored to be nominated.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants/businesses in Big Lake?
We love them all! Our family loves a good home cooked breakfast at Lake Cafe, Wings at Trails, Burgers at 3rd Rail, volleyball and bowling at McPetes and playing bingo and having appetizers at the Buff
Q: Please tell us about your current, past or future career plan. What do you/did you love most about it?
I have been an accountant for 20 years. I currently work for a family owned business that I absolutely love. I also work for a tax company seasonally for going on 18 years, helping many people file their individual tax returns and business returns.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
Our Family moved to Big Lake in 2005, so we have lived here for 17 years and have raised our family here.
Q: Who is an interesting person in our community that you’ve met and deserves to be included in The Faces of Big Lake project?
I have met so many incredibly people in this community. So, many to list from teachers to coaches to friends. Lots of great people.
Q: Do you have any pets? If so, what are they and what are their names?
Our family has 2 dogs that make our family complete. Rocko, a 3 year old blue healer and Bubba an almost 1 year old Mini Aussie Golden Doodle
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV Shows?
My favorite movie is Sound of Music and my favorite tv show is Parenthood
Q: What is your favorite holiday? Favorite season?
Christmas is my favorite holiday. The family time, traditions and memories, all the decorating and lights and just the spirit of the season makes me smile. And nothing beats seeing your children’s faces on Christmas morning. My favorite Season is Summer / Fall. I despise our winters -I love snow just not the bitter cold and love warm summer sunny days and crisp evenings perfect for bonfires in the fall.
Q: What advice would you give to people living in Big Lake?
Get involved and volunteer with your kids schools, sports and activities. It has been very fulfilling for me to have helped play a part in my kids schools and sports to make things better for them and for future kids.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Travel to all 50 states and to a couple other countries. I would love to see the world!
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I love the people and our small town. Everyone is so nice and kind. I also enjoy all the lakes we have within biking / walking distance.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
in 5-10 years I will be in the empty nest phase of my life watching my children move on to their next chapters in life. Although this makes me a bit sad I know they all will do great things! I then expect my husband and I to move out of our city lot and find a place with some acreage by water wherever that may be.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I have a fear of public speaking and get nervous around new people.
Q: What are your favorite hobbies?
I love to Travel, Spend time at the lake, ride my 4-wheeler and spend time with my family.
Q: If you could only eat one food/meal and one drink the rest of your life, what would it be?
Pasta and Diet Coke !

Q: What is your proudest accomplishment?
Raising and continuing to raise 3 kids. They are my world and I am proud of all 3 of them.
Q: What would you do/buy if you won the lottery?
In my dreams I would buy a beach house in Florida on the gulf but realistically, I would probably pay off debt and put into savings and do a fun trip with my family.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My husband Ray, my Parents, Carol and Dave, and my sister Holly, who is my best friend. I would not be the person today without any of these people. But, especially my children. My children motivate me to be a better person everyday so that I can be a person they look up to and are proud of
