Tell us a little about your family – parents, siblings, pets, etc.
My family means the world to me! My parents, Kim and Ivan John, are some of my biggest supporters and I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am without them. I have a younger brother named Alex John who is a sophomore. He is on the football and lacrosse team while also participating in Student council. My grandma also lives with us and we enjoy playing cards and going to Caribou together. She is my best friend and partner in crime. I have two dogs, Bella who is 8 and Nala who is 1. About 5 years ago we actually found, my now slightly chubby, cat outside in the brink of winter. She was almost frozen to death, but thankfully we were able to warm her up and now she is happier than ever.

What are some of your favorite hobbies, activities, sports, interests?
Some of my favorite activities are being a part of student council, NHS, and being on the school board. In each of these I am able to make a difference and meet some amazing people. My favorite sports are football, dance, and track. Each one of these teams has a community like no other and I am so proud to be apart of these organizations.

Share a favorite school memory from any grade.
I have a lot of favorite memories that I cherish from high school, but they all include being with my friends and laughing. To name just a few – our field trip to SCSU with math my junior year was a blast. We got to go ice skating, eat in the cafeteria, and had full ability to roam the campus. Another memory I have is drawing on the whiteboard table with my peers in McCormack’s room and each day being a different image to add to our made up story.

Tell us about a favorite teacher, coach, or staff member who had influence in your life/education.
One of my favorite teachers is Mr.Gindele. He was our student council advisor and treats us like adults rather than children. He understands the student perspective very well and is able to put a smile on anyone’s face.

What was your favorite subject to study in school and why?
I really enjoy math. Sometimes math and I have a love hate relationship, but I have always loved the idea that there is a right answer, but so many different ways to get there. I honestly think though that my love for math is partially credited to amazing teachers that I have had. Each one is always willing to help when needed and goes above and beyond their expectations.

Who are you always happy to see and why are you happy to see them?
I am always happy to see my best friends Allie, Lilly, and Raina. All three of them know me so well and are able to cheer me up no matter one. They are my biggest fans and support me in all of my activities. I truly wouldn’t be myself without them.

What are your plans for after graduation (school, travel, work, etc.)?
My plans after graduation are to attend college at either St. Ben’s or Concordia Moorhead. I plan to major in Business Marketing and minoring in Psychology. I will be trying out for the dance team in hopes to continue my career in college.

What advice do you have for incoming freshman as they start the high school adventure?
Take in every moment. High school goes by quicker that you will think and before you know it you will be a senior giving advice to the next group of freshman. I would also say to choose your friends wisely. Having a good support system of friends makes high school a lot easer and way more fun.

What has been the highlight of your senior year?
One highlight from senior year so far was being able to MC the pep – fests at school. It truly feels like a dream being able to talk in front of the entire student body and have them all partake in the games or events we have planned. Another highlight would be the senior sunrise at the beginning of the year.

Where do you imagine yourself 10 years from now?
In ten years I hope to have a family and working in a good paying job. I plan on getting my masters at some point and potentially living up north

Is there anything you wish you could go back and change?
I wish I would have spent more time going to basketball games and hanging out with my friends. I have prioritized school over everything and feel like I would have had more fun in my high school career if I balance school and friends better.

What are you most grateful for?
I am most grateful for all of the experiences that I have been given and the communities that felt like family. I am so happy I was able to be a part of so many different organizations within the school.

Tell us 3 words that describe you now.
Determined, Considerate, and Helpful

What is something (or things) you like about living in, and going to school in, Big Lake?
I love that Big Lake is a relatively small town. We have so many places to eat or shop that no other city has, such as Embers, Lake cafe, and PS I love you. Big Lake is a community of people who care for one another and want what is best for those near us. I have always enjoyed being able to grow up with my peers at school and having them not live so far away. This connection and sense of community that Big Lake represents will stick with me and so many others for years to come.

Where are your favorite places to eat, hang out, shop, etc. in Big Lake?
My favorite place to eat is Lake Cafe, one reason being that I work there. I also love all of the little boutiques that we have in Big Lake because you can find so many unique clothing or other items there. My friends and I particularly like hanging out at the beach or in our neighborhoods.
