Tell us a little about your family – parents, siblings, pets, etc.
My parents, Keith and Deb, moved to Big Lake in 2002. They have raised me to work hard, show respect and kindness to others. My dad is a retired Captain from the Maple Grove Police Department, and my mom has been a school social worker in Big Lake for 23 years. My sisters, Madison and Grace, have been big role models and have always been there for me. Madison, is 24 years old, 2018 Big Lake graduate, and currently works as a High School Social Worker. Grace, is 23 years old, a 2019 Big Lake graduate, and works and lives in Washington D.C. Our Mini Bernadooble, Millie, just turned 1 year old, and she definitely is the new favorite child. We enjoy our summers on Leech Lake and love the Minnesota Gophers.

What are some of your favorite hobbies, activities, sports, interests?
I love playing and watching sports, hunting, fishing, anything outdoors with my friends and family.

Share a favorite school memory from any grade.
My favorite school memory are the overnight sports trip with my teammates.

 

Tell us about a favorite teacher, coach, or staff member who had influence in your life/education.
Tom Critchley, my high school basketball coach, has been a huge role model for me. He pushes me to be a better person, athlete, and student. He has been there to encourage, support, and help me through the hard times.

What was your favorite subject to study in school and why?
History, I have always been interested in learning about history in and outside of school.

Who are you always happy to see and why are you happy to see them?
My family, they bring joy to my day.

What are your plans for after graduation (school, travel, work, etc.)?
I plan to attend Concordia College-Moorhead, the college that my grandma, mom, and sister attended. I am studying social work with the goal to become a juvenile probation officer. I will also be playing baseball, roll cobbs!

What advice do you have for incoming freshman as they start the high school adventure?
Don’t take time for granted, it goes so fast!

What has been the highlight of your senior year?
My highlight has been spending so much time with my friends.

Where do you imagine yourself 10 years from now?
I hope to have a family of my own someday, with a job I enjoy, and possibility be a coach.

Is there anything you wish you could go back and change?
Balance my school and friends better.

What are you most grateful for?
My family, friends, and supportive teachers.

Caring, hard working, and sense of humor.

 

What is something (or things) you like about living in, and going to school in, Big Lake?
I love the small town feel, living close to the wildlife refuge, and being able to know all my classmates names.

Where are your favorite places to eat, hang out, shop, etc. in Big Lake?
I love Cambo Flare, Willy’s on the Water, Kwik Trip, and Lake Cafe. I like to get my baseball equipment from BP Sports.
