Hello Big Lake! I’m Liz Fagen and the host of The Faces of Big Lake. I decided to fill out the interview form myself to share my fun info too. My other information is on the website also. Below you’ll learn a little more about me. I am so excited about The Faces of Big Lake project. It is a wonderful thing to share the stories of our amazing community members. Additionally, it’s great to learn favorite businesses, restaurants, etc. We have so much to offer here. Check out my interview below.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I’m the wife of Kyle Fagen -if your child plays basketball, football, or baseball you may have seen him out reffing and umping!. We have two boys, Ethan – almost 19 and Cade -16. To say they keep us on our toes, even now, is an understatement! Ethan has been an equestrian, competing with our horses over the years and Cade is an avid lacrosse player for Big Lake and his Club team.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
I always find my way to Trails and my family loves chicken wing night! I also enjoy Lake Cafe for french toast and McPete’s for drinks!
Q: Please tell us about your current, past or future career plan. What do you/did you love most about it?
I am a Realtor! You can find me -and Kyle- working under Liz Fagen Home Group – RE/MAX Results. I’ve been helping people with home sales and purchases for 4 years and it was the best career choice I have ever made. Prior to this I was always in sales and worked in the Supply Chain, Engineering and even Fashion Industry! I have travelled the world for work and spent countless hours in airports. I was ready to help people here at “home” and truly support others with such a big decision in their lives. I have been honored to be awarded various awards/accolades in 4 years and will soon be highlighted in a magazine! I will be a Realtor until I’m ready to retire many, many years from now.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
We have lived in Big Lake for 16 years. We started in the city of Big Lake and moved out to Township 5 years.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Oh there are SO many incredible people. Now that I’m getting to know the Faces of Big Lake, I can’t pick just one.
Q: Do you have any pets? If so, what are they and what are their names?
Yes! Currently our pet count is low. We have our Golden Retriever Zara and our rescue pup Punky. We recently sold our last horse, King, as my son was focusing on school and work. We get to see him often and I’m sure there will be more horses in the future.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV Shows?
The Princess Bride is my all time favorite movie! Sadly, none of my boys will watch this with me! I love The Big Bang Theory, FBI, and my guilty pleasure – Below Deck!
Q: What is your favorite holiday? Favorite season?
My favorite holiday is Christmas Eve. I know, it’s not technically a holiday but it’s when my family celebrates together and I look forward to us all being together that one day.
Q: What advice would you give to people living in Big Lake?
Get outside of your home and see it all! The farmer’s market, Music in the Park, Sherburne County Refuge, etc. We have so much more to explore here than some people realize.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I have a lot of things but I’d really like to try “Goat Yoga.” Yep, yoga outside with goats walking around!
Q: What is your favorite current or former business in our community?
Again, a lot of businesses I love here but my very favorite business is EvelynEve Design Co. owned by local resident, Maddi Thomas. If you haven’t checked out her FB page – do it!
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I think we have a lot of great things but the Farmer’s Market has really grown over the years and is well worth a visit. Sherburne County Refuge is a fantastic gem we have here too.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Helping more people with their home buying and selling needs! I love what I do and every day I’m happier than the day before!
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
Oh boy! Well, 90% of my face is made of titanium metal. After a terrible car accident my entire face/jaw/eyes were rebuilt all off a picture. The only surviving piece was my nose!
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My sons first and foremost. My husband, Kyle, who is always supporting me. My dear friend Wendy Blackman and surprisingly, every high school lacrosse player I have worked with over the last 5 years.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of Big Lake?
Home. Friendships. Family.
