Hi there!
My name is Maddi Thomas and I am a wife, mom and business owner. I love a good cup of coffee in the morning and making my family a homemade meal at night (when there’s time between activities)! I am a hockey, lacrosse and dance mama. I love being able to have my children involved in sports in the community. We have met so many amazing Big Lake families through our involvement in sports! Also, I am a hockey team manager and love the title!
I am a maker… an all around crafty gal. I spend my days doing what I love most- creating! My business name is EvelynEve Design Co. – named after my grandmother Evelyn who passed away the year before I opened my business. I am so proud to honor her through the name of my company! She was a very influential lady in my life.
I have high hopes and dreams of continuing to grow our roots here in Big Lake with my husband Broc and our children, Naiya and Knox. We love it here and hope to one day open a brick and mortar store here in Big Lake or a near by city, but for now I work from home!
Thank you Big Lake for the love you’ve shown my family and the support you’ve given my small business thus far, I can’t even begin to share my gratitude with you all. I just thank god every day for leading us to our home here!
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Lake Cafe hands down! Nothing beats a Sunday morning caramel roll from the cafe!
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
We will have been here for 5 years in November.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
There’s a lot. I have grown to love this close knit community and so many people here so much! Someone very interesting and strong would be one of my awesome hockey mom friends- Ashley Bloom. She is a widow, and one of the strongest, most amazing mamas I’ve ever met and I’m proud to call her a friend.
Q: Do you have any pets? If so, what are they and what are their names?
We do. We love all fur babies. We have 2 German Shepards – Kobe & Bryant. Yep you guessed it.. huge basketball fans here.. and two cats- Lennon and Moe.
Q: What advice would you give to people living in Big Lake?
Get out there and meet people in this community! There’s so many good people here. We are very fortunate to live in a safe, close knit community like Big Lake.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
To go to Mexico! I know, I know… but we’ve never been and I dream of my feet in the sand and a margarita in my hand on the beaches of Mexico.
Q: What is your favorite current or former business in our community?
Lake Cafe- delicious food. Also, Three Sons Hardware Store has always been so helpful when I need supplies for work
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
We are so close to Sherburne County sand dunes. We love to go hiking there with the kids and dogs!
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
In Big Lake, with hopefully a few more kiddos and a little more land.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I was crowned and served as Miss Buffalo 2013-14 volunteering for my community!
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My children! Everyday I am encouraged by them to be the best mama and person that I can be.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of Big Lake?
The close knit community, the very active sports families, and the helpers. You can always find a person to help no matter the situation here in Big Lake!
