Tell us a little about your family – parents, siblings, pets, etc.
My parents are Dan and Kim Nygaard. My mom is the art teacher at Independence Elementary. I have three older siblings who all graduated from Big Lake – Sydney, Adam, and Tori. I have a cat named Benny and a dog named Nala.

What are some of your hobbies and/or interests?
I spend too much time watching Tik Toks and Netflix but I also like going to the gym, reading, and cooking.
Tell us about a favorite school memory (any grade)
I really enjoyed participating in the powderpuff games my junior and senior years – even though it’s always rigged for the seniors.
Tells us about a favorite teacher, coach, school staff member, etc. who made a difference in your life/education (can include more than one and any grade).
My fifth grade teacher Edie Stewart made an impact on my life because I could tell she really cared about me. Even after elementary school she continued to support me and I really appreciate her for that.
What has been your favorite subject to study in school and why?
My favorite subject is art. I took two art classes with Ms. Glover and learned that I actually really like painting.
What has been the most challenging part of senior year for you?
Fighting off senioritis has definitely been the most challenging part of my senior year.
What has been the best part of senior year?
Snodaze week was a highlight of my senior year.
Have you made any plans for after graduation (additional schooling, work, etc.) and if so, what are they?
I will be attending the University of Alabama in the fall and I plan on studying nursing on a pre-PA track. Roll tide!
Where do you see yourself in 5, 10 years? What goals do you have for the future?
I see myself living in a warmer state far away from the Midwest. I hope to be a physician assistant and have a family – and a cat.
Tell us a one or two dreams/bucket list items you have for yourself
I would love to be a travel influencer and get paid to travel the world.
Are there any classmates who made a positive difference in your life/education that you would like to mention?
Madalyn Chan, Jadyn Kluk, and my all time favorite foreign exchange student, Cecilia Miguel.
What are some things you like about our city of Big Lake in general?
I like the small town connections that I’ve developed here.
What Big Lake establishments/businesses/restaurants are your favorites?
Pizza Factory, Caribou, Advanced Styling -ask for Alison- and Kwik Trip are some of my favorites.
What advice would you give younger students as they continue their education?
Time management is a valuable skill to learn – don’t procrastinate like I did!
