Tell us a little about your family – parents, siblings, pets, etc.
I live just outside of Big Lake with my mom, Holli, dad, Geoff, and siblings: Zebulon, Brynn, and Kendrick. My mom works as the children’s ministry coordinator at Saron Lutheran Church in Big Lake, while my dad is a high school principal in the metro area. My eldest brother, Zebulon, recently graduated from SCSU with hopes of landing a job in the radio world. My only sister Brynn is a pre-med major at Gustavus Adolphus. Kendrick, my younger brother, is a sophomore at BLHS. The only pets I’ve ever called my own are fish; my current favorite is Tony Shark.

What are some of your favorite hobbies, activities, sports, interests?
I love to read, write, and throw for Track and Field. I also love being apart of EPIC and NHS! Music is one of the biggest parts of my life, as I’ve been in band since 6th grade. I live for going to concerts and can’t wait for this summer to see both Niall Horan and Conan Gray!

Share a favorite school memory from any grade.
While I have numerous fun memories, my most recent favorite memory has to be going to YDAC back in February. Beforehand, we got to explore Minnesota’s Historical Society, and we went to Cossettas for lunch! It was a blast!

Tell us about a favorite teacher, coach, or staff member who had influence in your life/education.
Mr. Pelot, a previous Track and Field coach of mine for 3 years, has been the biggest influence. Not only did he encourage and teach me to improved my throwing, he also encouraged me to be my most confident self and just be me, no matter how goofy I was.

What was your favorite subject to study in school and why?
I’ve always loved English. Whether it was reading, writing, or editing, it didn’t matter, I loved it all! As my dad is an award-winning automotive journalist, writing is in my blood. Raised on a lifeline of literature, I’ve always found comfort in words and have always used them to express myself as well as learn more about others.

Who are you always happy to see and why are you happy to see them?
My mom! She’s such a beautiful person with a servant’s heart, and I feel so grateful for everything she has sacrificed for my siblings and I.

What are your plans for after graduation (school, travel, work, etc.)?
I plan to attend Saint Cloud State University, with an anticipated major in Special Education. As I only live 25 minutes from campus, I’m going to be living at home and commuting.

What advice do you have for incoming freshman as they start the high school adventure?
Surround yourself with positivity, whether that’s with friends, activities, or teams.

What has been the highlight of your senior year?
Being the female Triple-A Winner for BLHS, for the 2023-2024 school year! It was such an honor to receive this prestigious award. While being involved in Academics, Athletics, and Arts can be rather time-consuming, it’s made worth it by being selected for an amazing award like this!

Where do you imagine yourself 10 years from now?
Graduated with my Master’s and teaching, possibly with my own family but for sure with a dog.

Is there anything you wish you could go back and change?
I wish I would have embraced who I was when I was younger.

What are you most grateful for?
My loving parents and supportive friends.

Tell us 3 words that describe you now.
Eat, Pray, Slay!

What is something (or things) you like about living in, and going to school in, Big Lake?
I like having the perfect mix of urbanization while still living rural myself. While I don’t know everyone in my class, I’m still able to foster meaningful relationships with many of them.

Where are your favorite places to eat, hang out, shop, etc. in Big Lake?
I love to go to Caribou, MN Wholesaler, Ember, and Dairy Queen! I also love to support the businesses my friends work at like Erbert and Gerbert’s and McDonald’s.
